Thank you for putting this site together!

The word need to get out - recovery is not only possible, it is probable!

The natural recovery rate for "shizophrenia" is 50% or more....Not until the drug companies put together a paradigm of care - aka "medical compliance" with mind-altering drugs, did we see these rates plumment - to 10%....

Using psych drugs alone (they are "drugs" - not "medication" - as a sole source of "treatment", has less than one percent recovery rate....not good.

There are many ways to "recover" - to get well, to feel well....to do great things in life!

Yours in wellness and liberty,

Wow what a great story!

Will, I wonder if you might have experienced any recovery-based vs. non-recovery based clinics? I am currently interning at the Mental Health Center of Denver's Research and Evaluations Team and am very interested in a comparison of recovery-based vs. non-recovery based treatments in the eyes of the consumer.

I have heard so much about the importance of meditation, physical activity, and spirituality on the road to recovery. I believe non-denominational meditation is now being incorporated into a treatment plan called dialectical behavioral treatment due to its increadible advantages!

I wonder if I might be able to make reference to this story on my Mental Health Recovery Blog? Of course if this is proprietary than no worries at all! I am just attempting to start a dialogue between consumers of mental healthcare (both recovered and those in the process of recovering) and providers, and family members for that matter too, about what the recovery process is like, how recovery-based and non recovery-based clinics operate, etc. and your input would be invaluable!

I look forward to speaking with you more on the subject if your schedule permits it!

Warm Regards,
Lex Douvasa

Hi,

Could I please have Emily Collette's email, if that is alright. I visited her at the new King St. quarters the other day and forgot to ask for it.

Also, do you carry copies of Winning Against Relapse? Can I buy them in Toronto rather than ordering it on-line? Caversham's maybe?

Thanks,

Mary Ann

Hi Nirmala! There are lots of resources available on this site on the recovery model that you can download and read here: http://www.familymentalhealthrecovery.org/resources/links/information-about-the-recovery-model/
Also, if you give Marian a call, she is quite well versed on the subject and could help you to better understand what the model is and how it relates to you as a support person for someone in recovery.
